After decades of employment in franchise stores Don Kelley, the founder and President of KGI Solutions, went on his own as a North Carolina Independent dealer in 1996. It quickly became evident that all of the tools he had used and taken for granted in the franchise stores, like Dealer Management Software were not available or affordable to independent dealers.
After looking at what few choices there were at that time, he could find nothing that even approached what he felt would be needed by an independent operator. At the same time, his oldest son Ryan was a junior in college majoring in Computer Science. Over the summer of 1997, Don put Ryan to work developing a program that would help with the paperwork and record keeping needed by his dealership. Ryan is now the Chief Software Architect and IT Director. He and his staff continue to produce amazing products and integrations.
What began as a simple way to capture vehicle, customer and deal information and print paperwork became what is today one of the most popular dealer management software products available. Our customer list includes some of the most successful and profitable Independent Dealers in the country, along with Certified Master Dealers, multi-store operators and Related Finance Companies along with Mom and Pop operations.
